3erd gen sr5 cluster swap
« on: Feb 17, 2011, 11:05:44 AM »
OK guys iv been trying to figure it out. I have found a topic on this subject that cruzrdave started. I have read it and it makes sense I'm just hoping someone els has done it and has more info on the subject. Anyway I have a 90 extra cab 22re 5 speed, I have a cluster out of a 90 4runner Sr5 v6 auto tranny, I'm wanting to put it in my extra cab but there is something different about them but i just am to stupid  :hammerhead: to get it i guess. Uncle Jesse posted this in Nov 2004

Short of going to real wrecking yards and getting the correct engine cluster, I found that v6 clusters are easier to come across.  I went and put a v6 cluster in both of my four cylinder trucks.  I had to remove the speedo, then install the cluster minus the front cover.  Then with the engine running and using another tach as a reference, adjusted the white potentiometer on the side of the v6 tach.  I don't think you can adjust it dead on, but you can get pretty close at a low and high rpm reference point.

any help would be great and lots of pictures. I don't understand what he did (adjusted the white potentiometer on the side of the v6 tach). This guy did it differently seems better but more complicated (mhttp://www.mindspring.com/~jayk3/toyota/tachmod.htm). Mabye I'm just thinking to hard PLEASE HELP I want tac for my son or mabye someone wants to trade for a SR5 4 cylinder cluster
