Stuck gas pedal
« on: Sep 28, 2010, 01:00:06 AM »
Every time I press the gas pedal it gets stuck at the bottom. I find myself going under the hood and releasing it manually. Is there spring of something that I have look for to make it work on its own?

There's no golden "this is the problem" answer.  You need to inspect your complete throttle system from the pedal to the carb/throttle body to determine what's hanging up.  Seems pretty simple to me

Some more info would be needed here to even discuss the issue like year, efi/carb, etc.

Clean and lube all pivot points. Pull cable cable and clean inside by spraying brake cleaner down the cable until it runs clear out the other end. Go to a MC shop and get some cable lube and use as directed.

My cable stuck like crazy and I did this and now it works great.

just feather the clutch all the time and let it run wide open? I mean, thats what you would do if you were a real man.

I had the same problem when waking my Toyota from its 26 year slumber.

Made a bowl out of tinfoil and let the throttle plate/body soak in carb cleaner overnight. Worked great after.

The car was parked in my driveway for a few years. I will try to lubricate the throttle cable. The linkage attached to the intake manifold work fine.
