Clutch pedal vibration
« on: Feb 25, 2003, 06:22:21 AM »
I had the clutch replaced in my '92 4Runner(all clutch components including a flywheel resurface).
Now I feel a vibration in the clutch pedal when shifting over 3500 rpm. Any Ideas what the problem could be?

Modulation or Vibration?

brainfull has a good question that needs to be answered: Does the vibration only occur with the clutch pedal down, or does it occur above 3.5k regardless?

Regards,

What kind of milage is on the tranny?  Does it make any noise like a bearing howl when you let of the gas, when driving or when you down shift?

Do not feel the vibration all of the time. I feel the vibration only when clutch is almost fully depressed when shifting at over 35k, All gears. I am not sure what modulation is? Used all toyota OEM parts.

I can reproduce vibration with truck out of gear, rev to 35k, push in the clutch and back off the clutch slightly.

Mechanic replaced the pressure plate today, did not solve the problem.

Thanks for all you r replys

35K?!?!?!:o well if its with the clutch in that lets out the trans. ?if you hold it like that, does it keep the vib going? like for 30 secs. or so? that would give time for the trans to slow or stop truning. you said with the truck out-of-gear, does it not do it with the shifter in gear? and the clutch in? that would stop the imput shaft from truning and limmit the truble to flywheel, cover (that was just changed) and pilot bushing. oh and t.o. bearing. does it stop as you let the clutch out? all the way, well yes it does, grrrrrr. this is a good one. hummm. with the truck out-of-gear the imput shaft is truning so any vib may invole the trans too. make it vib and hole for a bit........and see if it fades away. if it does the imput is a maybe too. well its late and my brain is tired... oh wait I not have a brain!!:hahaha: keep us posted

I am not sure what modulation is?

Modulation is when something is moving, like pulsating, like your heart. Your chest modulates to your heat beats.

Its most common with Brakes. As one is applying his or her brakes, the pedal seems to give feedback and pulses, or modulates. If the clutch pedal was doing this, I guess it would be something with the Clutch Master Cylinder.. but I think that is very rare.

Possibly a bunk throughout bearing. Just because it is new from the factory doesn't always = good.  :heyhey: :hmm:
