check engine light

my 98 taco check engine light has been on for the last couple weeks and i cannot find why it is on. there seems to be nothing wrong woth the truck. any ideas? how can i turn it off?
98 taco, 32's, allpro front bumper, 3 in. body :( i know, cobra 29 ltd classic cb. broke college student so no building for awhile

if the lights on something is going on,  go to a autozone/checker/napa whatever and get them to pull the engine codes, they'll do it for free

engine light usually means something is going on with some part of the emissions system, I.E. o2 sensor, cat.., ext. But Glen is right take it to you local parts store and have them put the code. Good luck

so i called around and all the autozone's and napa's and places like that said they cant check vehicles anymore like that and shops around here wanna charge me 80 bucks just to check it and scanners start at 60 bucks and i dont have the money to spend on it just to check it. what is the next option?
