4runner engine swap
« on: Mar 30, 2010, 10:04:48 PM »
Hey everyone, the names rob.

I recently got rid of my fullsize 4x4 and got into toyotas. I grabbed up a 1990 4runner, it has a crappy running 3.0 EFI automatic. and i'm planning on swapping the motor. I've asked some of my buddies that have toyotas and I've gotten mixed responses on what motor i should drop in it(22RE, chevy 4.3 vortec, 3.4 toyota or a 3RZ). another one of my friends told me to get on here and ask around to hear what you guys all have to say. I'm new to the toyota scene and would like to get some good input and opinions.

Thanks dudes

well the eziest coming from a 3.0 v6 is going to be the 3.4   the 3.0 to a 4 banger is more diffacult but can be done.     and of course the 4.3 is'nt to bad i have herd.   and it has more power.      are you planning on keeping the automatic set up or is that out the window to?      my prefferance is do the 3.4 and the 5 speed.
i love oregon wheelin.

i just finished a 4.3 swap and it wasn't that difficult its a little cheaper than a 3.4 but if you want to keep everything toyota than go 3.4
