97 taco ac not working
« on: May 11, 2010, 09:50:19 AM »
wow its been a long time since ive posted..... well i just got my first taco and found out when i got home the ac does not work..... in my dads 96 taco i just recharged it and it was fine.... this one i recharged it and it blew cold that day, then the next day it was warm.... so i went back to kragen and got one of there refridgerant/sealer cand and filled it up with that hoping it would seal it... well right after that i had a horrible smell comming out of my vents but it did blow cold... well next day no cold air and still that horrible smell... so i assume werever it is leaking in the system its werever air passes throught something that has r134 going through it....??? were is that? under the dash?

yes, its called the evaporator and its under the dash, on the pass side

a vacuum should be pulled on the system before you recharge, it would be a great idea to replace the accumulator also(can looking thing under the hood)
