vibrations 99 taco
« on: Sep 17, 2009, 12:37:37 AM »
ok so my leafs were screwed and they had 3" blocks.  so i replaced the rear leafs with 3" northwestern springs and added one leaf to stiffen it up because i tow a little trailer with it.  it is at the most 2" taller than it was and i got plenty of spline on the driveline.  Now it vibrates and makes a big bass noise when im at the bottom of the gear cruising or doing 65 on the freeway.  I replaced the u joints and the carrier bearing ( all were fine) i still got a vibration.  Any ideas? will post picks tomorrow.

pics .  first is new springs second is the old.  it sits a bit more level than in the fist pic. my driveway is slanted.  Any ideas about how to fix the driveline angle.  I thought of putting in a solid spacer where the carriage bearing bolts to the cross member but i dont know if thats safe?

put some spacers in between the mount and the d-shaft to get it more in a line and see if that help. it looks like you could drop it a half inch with the long bolts that are on it now. My T100 has 1" spacers on it with 5" springs.

nice! put in a new bolt and 2 steel collars.  vibes are gone now. thanks for the help.  Will post a pic tomorrow so you can tell me if its legit to do it the way it is.  Had trouble finding a solid spacer that size.  Original bolt was to short for my liking so i replaced it.  its not a grade 8 bolt but looks good enough.
