Supra Toyota 6x6 crewcab
« on: Jun 19, 2004, 05:44:56 PM »
heres my idea, :screwy:
using spare parts and salvage parts and lots of welding supplies, :flamer:  i have dreamed up this idea of a  6 wd toyota  truck powered by a supra 5mge,  supra auto+sm465+toybox  into a divorced, tcase mounted about were the factory spare is,  in the stock rear axle locale  will be a front axle with the ball ends cut off and spindles welded on, and a regular wide rear axle in the rear

oh yea and two  extended cabs welded back to back :beerchug:

of course it will be longer than brainlessmobile,  think about it, :headscratch:two cabs, a supra engine, so the hood will be stretched , and a short bed

Very, very long. Driveline angles & lengths in the rear might be an issue. Keeping the divorced transfer to toybox driveline away from the 1st axle might be a squeeze also.

well i thought some sort of carrier bearing just ahead of the front/middle axle and some extended bump stops to prevent it from hiting the shaft,
remember it/the middle axle will be a front axle with the knuckles cut off and spindles welded on so the pumpkin will be on the right of center

i guess i should make some detailed drawings befor i start :dunno:

supra 5mge, supra auto+sm465+toybox into a divorced,tcase

Why would you divorce the tcase when it's behind a toybox? Just use a MC07 (or MC08 or MC08-R10) adapter!!

yea dude at us6x6 wanted like $5000 for just an axle,  like $10,000 for the conversion,   yea right
 :hammerhead:
i broke out the grid paper and slide rule today and did some serious figuring

i have everything figured out,   man if only i had a flatbed scanner to post my drawings  :drooling:   basically take a typical top shift tcase and bolt the front output flange directly to the pinion flange on the front axle, that will be cut and resized

then attach with various adapters ( and my welder)to the axle,  similar to the usa6x6 over the top pic above,  :beerchug:  short shaft to rear axle,  :hammer:  and a adapter and slipyoke on front of the tcase, were it USED to attach to tranny,   :beerchug:  :driving: with shaft to rear of actuall tcase  :driving:

USA6x6 doesnt make the high end stuff he farms it out and puts his name on it. Jack at CTMRacing does a lot of the customer axles. He did the Mog hubbed 9 inches on JR's Brocno that wone Tough truck a couple years back. I am pretty sire he did the 9 inch centered 6x6 set up that GM contracted. Skip the middle man and talk to Jack direct.

Tag axle is stock 9 the middle axle has a custom pinion that drives through the back of the pumpkin to drive the Tag axle. www.CTMRacing.com
