Need Help With Electrical
« on: Feb 12, 2009, 12:49:41 PM »
I don't know much about trucks, and i'm trying to learn. My truck is tweekerfied and I want to fix the electrical but don't know where to start or how. Magically the tac started to work today which was kinda creepy but great (that's not saying it will work for long either.) I got new stuff to change the fuse panels away from those bar fuses from there I don't know what to do with hooking up the wires to the new panels. It's one of those universal junction box (if that makes a difference.) Any help would be great thanx!

Get a wiring diagram and study it until it's no longer just a bunch of lines and symbols. They can be kind of intimidating at first but it will end up being your best friend when you doing electrical.
It was just crazy to see this deer leap all suicidal style off this embankment right in front of us.

I would start with the batt. cables. make sure there good. clean and bolts good, start end clean and frame side too.
next would change the fuseable links. on my 83 they were junk. you always start at the begining. and for elct. on a veh. that would be the batt.
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

It might be easier to 'untweakerfy' one thing at a time rather than the whole thing all at once.  :gap: This would be a lot less trouble.

'Untweakerfication' can be time consuming but not impossible. Did you have one major problem or was it a bunch of problems you're having with yer rig? This may be helpful to know.  :yesnod:

bunch of different problems with my truck, and if it's not one thing it's another. lol. Guess I'll try to slowly work out the bugs and maybe one day it will work the right way again. I hope

One at a time is good. You won't get overwhelmed that way.   Keep us posted as you progress with the repairs.  :cheese:

yup sounds like you need to check all your grounds. start at the battery  if anything looks questionable  unbolt it clean it up put it back together.   stay in the enging compartment till you feel you have eliminated/fixed every thing there then move in to the cab.   depending on how rusty your truck is you might wana take apart the dash and inspect all the wires.
