Simple questions about bleeding brakes.
« on: Sep 19, 2008, 01:01:38 PM »
1985 Toyota.

1) What is the difference of having the truck running while you bleed them vs. having it turned off? Under what circumstances would you want it running instead of off, why?

2) What's the difference of having someone push and hold before you open the valve vs. opening the valve and then having them push and hold? Why would do one instead of the other?

3) How many squirts should be done on each valve before moving onto the next one? (Assume there's no air bubbles or dirty fluid coming out the entire time.) 5 times each?

I'm bleeding it over and over(including the LSPV). Wife tries to help but baby cries and the operation stops.

I'm gonna be selling this truck but can't let someone drive it away when the pedal goes to the floor and you have to pump the brake once or twice before you get real brakes. If I'm going to require someone to bring a trailer to get it and let them deal with the brakes - should knock off a few hundred bucks?

Great rig other than this brake issue I got. I've put 3 small containers of brake fluid through it and while I did see a little air here and there - is it possible for more air to still be trapped along the lines?

Didn't forget about the LSVP.

Although now that I think about it, I never bench bled the master.  Could that tiny amount of air in the master be responsible for this?

Guess I'll jack up the rear tires and do the master.  Do I have to bleed out both ports or just the far one?
