Tire Groover
« on: Jul 16, 2008, 12:12:29 PM »
I am looking for a good tire groover, and want to see what everyone is using.  not looking to spend to much, but the best bang for the buck groover!  So let me know what ya got!

Also, i have 37 inch swampers, and need some ideas of how people have grooved them.  Pics would be great!

Cheers :beerchug:

I've used one similar to this model (http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/399,185_Tru-Hot-Grooving-Iron.html).  It worked well!

Here is the link to the model that I use.  I picked mine up at a yard sale for like $40 brand new.  I bought the wider blades and it works great.  You just need to take your time and go slow to keep the blade hot and make sure that your tires are clean free of gravel or you'll go through alot of blades.

I have a pair of the Ideal Heated knives as shown on the above Wakula site and they work well.  I've been using them for many years both on my flattrack tires and on my 4wd tires with great success.   If using them on a cold day you may need to put the tire next to a heater to speed up the process.
