cryo treat birfields?
« on: Jul 31, 2008, 01:41:06 PM »
broke my first birfield this last time i went to rubicon.  stock birfield turning 37's with an aussie locker and a 22re.  already replaced the birf with another stock one, but i'm looking into cryo treating them.  has anyone done this?  are they much stronger than stockers or should i just save up for bobby longs or marfields?  anyone running cryo treated stocks and had good luck with them?

if your looking for an inexpensive alternative to just get you by for the time being then look into smurfields, or marfields. Your still gonna buy the longs eventually.
Hug your kids, pray for a soldier, and don't sweat the small stuff.

yea, thats what i figured.  it's just going to be a bit before i can buy the longs.  does anyone know the number to the smurfields?  i got one online and tried calling but i just get an answering machine and it doesn't sound like a business.  left a message and no phone call returned.

Just know that once you do longs your ring and pinion, and hubs will become the weak link.  I went longs and everything in the axle around them started to fall apart on me.  3 R&P's later I wised up and put a 60 in front.
