No, the guy is making a scale engine from plastic parts he creates by hand.  Lots of pictures in the link. 

Haven't seen the Pirate thread (I rarely go there, guess I should more often).  Functional scale engines are incredible!

Cool!  I haven't seen the thing on the mini v8s on pirate, but I remember a little video clip of some mini v8s that sounded absolutely wicked!
