My 89 was a DD for about 4 years when I bought it in 1995.  I drove it 100 miles per day round trip for work.  Once I got a 4Runner to take over DD duties I began doing mods to it and wheeling it a little harder.  I installed an IFS lift and stilll drove it to work from time to time.  I screwed up the steering really bad while wheeling one time that damaged the idler arm, twisted the shaft on the steering box and screwed up the adjustment shims on the Lower a-arms.  Thats when I decided to do a SAS and turned it into a trail only rig after that.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Mine sits in a garage 95% of the time.  Basically a trailer queen minus the one weekend trip I actually drove it.  With the 40's on it, it's going to be harder to drive on the street.  Oh well, it kicks ass on the trail

I think he already has hydro....I think he is mainly concerned with tire life/mileage....you can only go so far before it becomes a PITA to drive your rig on the street :D

Yup, got it :)  Burning off expensive tires on the street isn't worth the expense.  It now might be that diesel is $4 a gallon :(

That and the top speed of 60 mph and kicking my 22RE's ass all around town pushing big tires isn't fun.

ive dd'd built toyotas since 2005 now and drove them everywhere usually doing about 10,000-15000 miles a summer/fall now i finally got another dd but i'd still rather drive my tacoma around town just because its faster and much more fun to drive than my 4runner
