Brake Problem!
« on: May 13, 2008, 12:25:28 PM »
I was drivin down the road mindin my own business when a effin car pulled right out in front of me  :censored: so I slammed on the brakes. I stopped in a hurry but now I cant hold any pressure on the peddle. I bled and changed the front 2 calipers and still loose pressure, but can not find any leaks. I think it might be the booster or the master cylinder but I am not sure. I am pretty bummed I changed the front 2 calipers for nothing... any help would be appreciated!

Typically if you can feel the pedal sinking to the floor slowly with no signs of external leakage, I would say replace the master. Have you already checked the rears for a leaking wheel cylinder?  If you replace the master, now is a good time for an upgraded unit.   Hope you fix it.  :beerchug:

Good thing they worked that time. Are they just hard to press or does it go to the floor? If they are hard then I'd say booster or vacuum leak, if they go to the floor then you may have a master issue, generally if it is a cylinder or caliper they will still work.

So you have or haven't bled the whole system?

Same things my brakes have done for over a year! I just got really good at downshifting. I am going to put one of the 1 inch masters in eventually.

You say you bled the whole system, does that include the LSPV?

Correct procedure to bleeding brakes, longest line to shortest.

PS Front

So I have a good question. When you add more weight to the back of the truck (bar moves up) does that send more fluid to the front or rear (as apposed to no weight in the back of the truck)? I would assume rear, but I have been wrong before.

the brake problem is no more! I swaped a 15/16s master cylinder, instead of the stock 79-85 13/16s. I bled the master cylinder and the whole system. They work great, however I do loose a little bit of pressure like if I am at a stop sign. I think there might be a bubble in there. I am going to bleed them again and hopfully it works. Thanks for all the help!  :turtle:
