Engine Cleaning Tip
« on: Jun 16, 2008, 10:33:53 AM »
Incase you didn't know, Simple Green works wonders for cleaning off an engine.

Cover electronics, spray on, let sit 5 minutes, rinse off with garden hose.

SuperClean is bad on aluminum if you let it sit too long, due to it's Sodium Hydroxide content...it's very basic (low on the Ph scale) and WILL eat it up if you leave it on too long.

Purple Power or Simple Green is what I use here at the shop for getting all the oil off after doing a change. Some shops use stuff like carb cleaner or brake cleaner but I find that makes the cars interior stink until it dissapates. The other two actually makes the car smell fresh.

Super clean will take the anodizing off of aluminum in a heartbeat.  I use it on everything, hell I spray my truck down with it before i wash it too..   Makes tires clean and black as new too.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??
