First gen 4runner on 85 std cab frame.
« on: Aug 10, 2007, 11:20:22 AM »
I'm sure this has been discussed before ,but here goes. I've got an 85 std cab pickup and I want to put a 4runner body on it. I was told that the body mounts are way different ,but thats nothing that A cutoff wheel and a welder can't fix, but I was told that the fuel tank is mounted differently to. Any help here?

Your right about the body mounts but I'm not sure the gas tank mounting is different  :dunno: Nothing that some cutting or welding couldn't fix  :gap:

The cab area will bolt up but the pick up bed bolts to the top of the frame at the rear & the 4Runner frame has body mounts welded off the side of the frame.

The first pic is the rear 4Runner body mount on my 87

The second pic is the rear truck bed mount on my 89. The rusty part is where the p/o welded the bumper brackets to the outside of the frame  :shake:

I'll look at the gas tank mount in the day time.

Sorry for the  :pokinit: pic's, it's my camera phone.
