06 5.4L ford engine in a 88 truck ?
« on: Jul 19, 2007, 06:27:57 PM »
I think I read some where that a 5.4L 3 valve ford engine is to wide for our trucks. Is this true? I know of a place that has a wreaked 06 ford F150 with 10,000 miles on it and they are selling it cheap if I want it. Will it fit between the fram rails? I searched to see if anybody has done this swap and could not find anything.

that engine is huge... its not going to fit... well unless you want valve cover fenders, lol

Thats what I thought but I might get it anyway to part out they only want $300.00 for the hole truck and it was a roll over no front end damage. Valve cover fenders would be diferent.

I would get it.  That is cheap for a 3v motor.  Plus you get the trans and other parts.  The engine will probably fit between the frame rails, however, your problem will be the top end.  Street rodders really like these motors, so you should be able to sell it for a lot more than you paid for it.

thanks for the info I may get it to part out or try the swap I have a IFS so I will have to do a SAS if I want to install this engine. It will take some more looking in to to see if it is to big.

I'd get it for cheap, sell what you can. That engine is HUGE, but who knows, with enough work anything can be made to work.
