Toyota Clutch
« on: Apr 27, 2007, 07:53:56 AM »
I've got a '94 Toyota 4WD Pickup 22re. I've done little various upgrades to it here and there. Including a 3" body lift and 33x12.50's. I've put one new clutch in it along with a new engine about 50,000mi ago. The new clutch really helped out on the big hills on highway driving here in Missouri. But now its starting to slack again I think. Missing a few gears a day do to it not ingaging or something?? :smack: Sometimes doesn't like to go into first gear without lifting on the pedal some. Double clutching sometimes to avoid missing gears.  Would something like a CenterForch clutch help me on these big hills around here?? It mainly stays on the highway, so keep that in mind. Just seams like it could use some umff (besides a V-6) Any help at all would be appreciated :) :sad2:

P.S. already have Hooker exhaust and K&N filter

well if  you went to 33's  thats your problem,  the 22R-RE is  a  great little motor  if  allowed  to work in its  torque curve, they really like to cruise  at 3000 rpm

what  you need to do  right now  is  change the  gears in your  differentials  to 4.88  since  they are now 4.10

but in the short term  stay out of 5th,   let  the  engine  run  around 3000  -3200   on the highway,   4000  rpm  for  a long hill aint hurtin nothin

oh  :woohoo:   A MISSOURI DUDE  :woohoo:

Also check your clutch pedal bracket to see if its bent. On my cousin 89 his clutch wouldnt work right, it wouldnt shift good like the clutch wouldnt disengage all the way and we ended up tearing it down and seeing the clutch wasnt worn at all. His clutch pedal bracket was bent so he was losing a lot of pedal travel. But to get your power back you need to regear it.

Is it just me, or does 50,000 miles seem like a pretty long life for a clutch?
Depends on you'r driving habits I guess... :driving:
