Theft deterrent system bypass?
« on: Apr 22, 2007, 10:25:18 AM »
Multiple searches yeilded nothing,I did find some info online but it did not work.  I just picked up an 02 4Runner and it has the Toyota TDS.  It is annoying my daughter comes home pretty late and the whole neighborhood hears the horn toot when she locks and unlocks the car.  I pulled the horn fuse but it is wired seperatly. Any tricks to this?  Thanks.

due  to recent thefts  of  trucks  i  think  you need to contact a dealer.    This forum is NOT  the place  to discuss this.

OOPS! I forgot I am not the only one reading this, I talked to the dealer and they can't do anything to turn it off nor would they if they could.  I found a dozen ways to bypass it online and not one of them worked.  It is irritating when you lock it the horn honks 6 times in rapid succession but just going to have to deal with it.

if the regular old horn honks that may times, it's not a factory system that is causing it to do that.  The factory system on an '02 should have a separate piezo that beeps, and it's usually very quiet.

Check to see if there is an aftermarket system wired in to be armed when the factory system is armed.  Chances are that there is.

Also, post a picture of your remote- that'll provide some insight to which system is in the vehicle...

Find a local alarm installer and see what they can do for you!  With alarms you will have 2 horns, a alarm horn, and your stock vehicle one!
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!
