my 86 pickup..thats almost done
« on: Dec 27, 2006, 09:38:42 AM »
been slowly working on this since either august or september..and it all started with a wheel bearing that i refused to fix :talkingn: ..so i cut that IFS crap out real fast

DATE ON PICS ARE WRONG..

F150 rear springs

and i might have to bash the hell outta that tank

rears spool along with 5.29s

and this is how to remove a stubborn pitman arm

cut it off..

shirtty shackle angle..

and this is how it not sits

except its now turned around, no front axle (putting it back together) and no tires on it, and i have a way better rear shackle angle..

soon i will have dual cases, front stock case rear 4.7s/ twinstick, longs, new front housing, e-locker front (had one but sold it) or a lockrite..

heres another..and i have yet to figure out why my shackle angle sucks nuts..when i cut out for my frame tubes i centered the jig in the body mount like stated in the instructions..i guess i should have pushed it all the way forward..

looks like you welded your front hanger on about 1.5" too far forward.

You plan on relocating your rear shackle hangers?.That's a bad angle...What front springs are you running?.

Yeah, that IS the point but not when your shackle's kicked forward like this one is  :shake: .

im running pro crap 4'' fronts for now, until i throw the 1st and 2nd leaf from these into my rears to run up front..(these are 3leaf)

i really do not want to cut those b*stds out and re cut the frame tube holes for a better angle.

the hanger is fine, and in the exact place it is supposed to be. the hanger moves the axle 1'' (give or take) forward i think

thats the point.  leaf springs you are running are the same length as stock.  you move the hanger forward then you make the shackle angle worse.  the hanger is in that place for the marlin springs or what ever brand you bought the hanger from.  what you are gonna have to do to make the shackle angle better without cutting anything is get longer springs.

ok, thats kinda what i was thinking..the hanger is from Trail-Gear.. im planning to order marlin springs cause all i have heard of them is good, unless i use rears up front...

more than likely i will go with marlin, trail-gear springs are horrible about sagging

rear may get a 3/4 elliptical or w/e buggy spring setup.. better shackles and more lift..and triangulated rear shocks, i have 10'' travels in the rear and at ride height they are compressed with 4'' of travel exposed (mounted like the stock location, cause i want to control axle wrap with out a traction bar..
