custom the formula engine
« on: Aug 20, 2006, 06:51:32 AM »
this is not for competition! alrightI will strt with a 22r bottom end punch it .030 over w/ keith black 10.0 or 11.0 to 1 compression with a 20r head bored for larger valves and heavier springs, I will also use an offenhauser intake for a 22r the head will have to be ground extremely, on top of the intake i will use a got propane 22r kit, i need to know what i should use for a water pump oil pump so i dont run out when on side or up side down, timeing gear or chain, oil pan, distrubutor, ignition, cam,

up side down?!?! you putting this in an airplane sonny?  :headscratch:

anyway run stock it will work on it side so long as there oil covering the pick up. if theres not nothing will work if the pick ups not in the oil.
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

what I can't finger out is why is there no aftermarket  dry sump system for the 20R-22re moters.

I will also use an offenhauser intake for a 22r
sorry but that wont work on a 20R head,  you will have to use a 20R intake  and use the carb adapter to 22R carb to adapt the propane mixer

toy 4wd oilpans have a "splashguard"  around the edge of the lower sump  so that oil doesnt slosh away from the oil pickuptube,  and its onle 5 or so inches wide,  dont really need one of those "swinging" pickup tubes
as long as its not on its side for very long it will be fine

A 22r/e will run on it's side for as much time as you want, i wouldn't worry about oiling.  why are you going to put this much money into an engine that won't see any road miles?  you don't need that much power for a rock crawler.

i compared the gaskets all the bot hoes line up between the 2 intakes all the bolt holes line up i have to bore the 20r head out at a taper so not to blow threw and it will line up with the stock intake hopfully the offy will be the same, now as for the oil pick up thank you notso worried now will use stock, this really wont be for rock crawleing as there arent many places for that in oregon i want the power to show that i hve a bad ass small engine light weight i should be able to clean out a set of boggers with no problem. are there any spacial large volume pump i might need for this engine or will factory pump work, how much horse power do you think i will have i wheel in mud and some what hilly terrain and some what regular dune use i think a g-54 hd behind it and dual foctory cases with 4.88 gears and i wanna run 37 no problem i also wanna se how fast i can get my wheeler to go just to see. do you guys really think this is total over kill

First of all, do you know what this is:  .  It is used to separate and distinguish between separate sentences(thoughts, if you will).  Secondly, why not fill the 22R manifold with epoxy and whittle that down.  Seems like it'd be easier not to screw something up by doing that.

on top of my last post i want to say sorry, but i hate people who make fun while i am in a hurry. I have decided not to use the 20r head it will be to much machine work and the thicknesses will be thin.

i was going to tell you if it was a 86 block  the 20 head would be a pain,
but  i think your on the right track,  and you may be right on sand the larger diameter tires would be better,  and you could use low range and 3rd or 4th gear in low range

and btw
:worthless:

with the weight,(2600-2800lbs.) and the with of the tries it should be fine as long as i dont spin themm too much and sink in the sand. by the way i saw a completely stock honda prelude (80ish) goinall over the place at the dunes ones, but my great lack of luck i'll get stuck in he paring lot unloading awell
