Reputable Turbo shops
« on: Feb 10, 2007, 03:10:02 PM »
Well I'm in the process of a full rebuild on my 87 Turbo Runner, but I'm not having alot of luck with finding a place to rebuild my Turbo. Does anyone have a shop they'd like to suggest? I really appreciate any help, thanks.

dont waste  your money  on the stock  ct20 turbo

go  find a ct26  from a supra,  easy  mod  and MUCH better

It's not a junk turbo.. How many mid-late 1980s turbos can make it over 100k miles?

It was a turbo hooked to a hard line exhaust system (no flex tube) -so it tends to crack.

Performance wise, it's a bit on the small side.

Talk to guys at the gpop shop about rebuilding it.  If it's cracked (exhaust side) hold on to your wallet.

Consider a CT26 (requires some modifications) or a t3 instead.

My new truck has a T3 that suppose to go in a sabb. Works great and everyone looks when you let off the gas because it sounds like a big turbo diesel. Good Luck!

the saab t3 is .42/.48.  Very common.. I've run one also -- great choice for a stock 22rte.

not sure what the decimaled numbers above mean...

but ct26, ct20, t3 are turbo models.. the t3 is a garrett, the otehrs are toyota... the ct20 came on the 22rte, the ct26 came on a supra with a 7mgte

robrub00 is going to run a ct26 on his 4runner

The numbers are the "AR" ratio on the turbo.  Do a basic google search for:
"turbo" "AR" "trim" - you'll find a page that gives the detail.

A smaller AR means a quick spooling turbo.  A larger AR means slower spooling, more top end.
