destroyed 3rd member
« on: Jul 31, 2006, 07:22:36 PM »
so today i was gonna start gettin my 3member ready for some 4.88 gears and the pin in the middle was shattered in the lockrite so much, that the carier swelled up and i cant get my 4.88's off, the locker survived without a scratch, so i cut the carrier in half, any suggestions about getting the ring gear off the carrier?

Put it in the oven.  Try to get the ring gear to heat up and expand a bit.  That is also a good trick for getting the gear on if it is a little tight.  Put it in a pan first...and clean very well with something non flamable or your house will have the lovely aroma of cooked gear oil.

i dont think its gonna work, the case where the main carrier pis went through is all stretched out about a 1/8 or an inch on each side, im gonna have to run the plasma cutter like a surgeon tomorrow at work, and hopefully i wont cut the gears at all

A big hammer.  You might want to replace all the stuff anyways after what it went through for reliability.

Does the clutch pedal have an adjuster behind it and before it goes into the cylinder?  That's how I adjust the one on my pissan.
