22re stumbling issues
« on: Jul 31, 2006, 10:19:21 AM »
Hey guys, I just rebuilt the 22re engine in my 93 4runner and ive been having issues with engine performance. I got the long block from a local shop and replaced most of the sensors. When I goose the motor it climbs to about 3-4k RPM and then starts stumbling and will not accelerate further. When I pulled the head off there was alot of carbon deposits, much more than should be expected for only 2k miles. The timing is set 8 btdc (low end cam installed and called for +2 degree advance). Everything else is stock on the motor. Please help.

thats not enough timing for a 22re, i belive stock is 12* with the test terminals jumpered.....

instantly, to me, sounds liek a timing issue, when my 22r did that, it was due to the cam tooth skipping out of sync with the crank or vacuum issues
