I have read alot about people using 20r heads on 22r blocks.  But I have not heard anything about the 22r head on the 20r block, so I'm not thinking so.  ?  not to sure though.

uh  NO  run the 20R  till you can rebuild the 22R block, then put that fresh 20R head and intake on the 22R

   ok  if the 22 head is from a torbo or efi  it wont work,  the 20R piston will smack the living crap out of the head

and btw  when you go back with the 22  get something besides the stock ct20 turbo,  they are junk,  a ct26  from a early supra  works great with minimal mods

you bet,

you could put a 22''R'' head on a 20R block  and blow lots of boost,  but a efi head ''RE''is flat  and has no where for the 2mm flat dome of the 20R piston to go,

hey, maybe i'm being picky but it's misleading to say the 22R head has the open chambers and the 22RE head has the closed quench chambers.  there were open chamber 22RE engines and closed chamber 22R as well...just an early vs late issue.
