i would put that tire on a 10" rim.
i think the largest tire i have seen on an 8" is a 315/75=35x12.50 approx.
you might be able to fit the tire but i dont think it would be safe. IMO

Define "safely".  Is this a DD?  Do you run in the twisties a lot?  I have a set of 35x12.5 bfgs on 8" wheels and the tread patch is barely wider than the wheel, but each tire varies.  I would agree that you're gonna wanna snag some 15x10s for those, but with the height you can probably sneak by.

im running  a 16" wide tire on  a 7" wide rim  :gap:  ive also seen 49" iroks run safely on a 10" wide rim ( iroks are 21" wide !)  you can run a 13.50 on a 8" wide wheel no problemo

You will be fine running that tire.  Your biggest concern is how well it will hold the bead when you air down.

BigMike made a statment a few weeks ago about the same topic.  I can't find the thread but I think he said somthing like a good setup is a tire 4" wider than the rim and you will be at the best unless you run beadlock and then it alomost does not matter.  Dont quote me on this because I can not remeber for sure.

BigMike, please feel fre to correct me.

a rule of thumb is 4" either way of tire to rim.....

you can easily put a 13.5 on an 8" rim without much issue.....

when i worked @ wheelworks... there was a customer that brought in a lifted first gen toy pickup... he had the stock 15x6 chrome wheels.... we put 33x12.5s on it....... other than probably some irregular tread wear on the street because of the contact patch, there were no safety or driveability issues with it
