Yes, they definately need some much better backspacing. 2" would be great. I would hate to spend all that money and still be at stock width

No doubt.  There for awhile you were the king of scrub radius.  I just cant see trying to drive with the front end spaced out so damned far it boggles my mind....

I got 2.5 inch backspaced wheels with my boggers, but not open in front anymore...
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Maybe I'm having a  :smack: moment.......  But I have 2.25 backspaced wheels with a full spool.   ???   Am I just asking for trouble?   You all unlock your hubs when you get off the trail right?

The problem with running with hi offset wheels is the farther the outer endg of the tire is from the ball joints/ trunion bearings the more tire scrub there will be.  Instead of just turning the tire the tire actually spings in an arch which puts a helluva lot of stress on parts.

I understand putting weight out further away will put more stress on everything making the axle a big lever with the fulcrom (sp) at the spring.  Dually noted.  But I don't follow when you say that the tire springs in an arch.  What do you mean by that?

This is an extreme example, but if you have a 8" wheel with 4" BS it will pivot absolutly centered, if you had 0" BS on an 8" wheel the tire will actually swing forward and back.

The example on the right would be the same as having 2" BS wheels with 2" wheel spacers.

It's steel for me, busted one cast aluminum but the steel just bends and can be pounded back to get out of trouble with. Had spun aluminum too it was ok.

I'm locked in the front and understand the scrub radius thing...but I still want some extra width for stability reasons.  Maybe we should compromise at a 3" backspacing?

Right now im running 2.5"BS and 1.5" spacers on the front toy axle. I know its putting a lot more stress on the bearings but the added width adds a lot more stability on the trail and off.
Its been about a year now with that set up and i still havent had any problems in the front with bearings or any breakage. One thing i noticed was the turn radius

I like the bs right around 2 - 2 1/2 inches.  The second design with the larger ring and diamonds is a cool design.

I would have to agree with the other folks on the round hole design.. much nicer in my opinion. Also the wider beadlock plate with some marlin logo's cut into it would look fat. Now how about some 10" and 12" widths?????
