CB Noise
« on: Jul 16, 2005, 10:49:15 PM »
Do newer CBs usually have filters to block out interferences such as alternator, blinkers, lights, fuel pump, etc.?

If so, I'm buying a new CB.  I don't want to buy a $50 filter for a $5 CB.

yah, but why not get a filter and run it to a fuse bolck, then run all accessories off of it...thats what I did.  That way nothing in my truck ever whines or gurgles.

I ran mine straight to the battery and I get interference from everything electrical on my truck.'

As long as everyone is sure newer CBs have filters to stop those interferences, I'm going to get a Uniden Bearcat Proseries.  It's only $50.

The filter on the CB helps, but does not get rid of the noise completely. I have found a sheilded power cable run directly from the battery seems to help also.

The power line filtering in a CB is minimal, and it's effectivness varies from vehicle to vehicle, so you still may need additional filtering to remove alt whine. One of the $10-15 filters is usually sufficient.

i know that cobra has something called a 'soundtracker' system in some of their's! you have to push a button on the front of the radio to activate it but it really seems to work! i got a 60 dollar cb and it's pretty good...sometimes it likes to remind me it's there by letting loose a blast of static, but thats normal...i hope!
