I wouldn't do the birf. elim. kit caus things are really far from what they were when it came out, it just isn't worth it IMO

now for the birf in th weaker to stronger order

um-05    seems like profield and longfield before he got cromo
bellfield   like the old ringed longs but seems to be even better
um-06    Chromoly!!! what more can I say :bling: :bling:

I did the birf eliminator kit, and so far I'm very happy with it. I thought about going with CTM's, but couldn't justify the extra $$. Also did ARB's front and rear at the same time, and they seem to handle it well. I figured I could alway's go back to Birf's if needed, since you dont have to change anything except put a brass bushing in the axle tube, which could be removed with a pulley if needed.

Now I don't worry about turning the wheels and stomping on the skinny pedal.

I would have to say the best way to go would be the 30 spline longs. If I had the money when I upgraded my front axle that is the way I would have gone, instead for less money but still a good birf from what I have heard I went with the bellfields. I believe the bellfields are what they are running in the Marlin formula toy too. :beerchug:

i just went ahead and bought new um05 marfields.  supposedly stronger than stock, and you can't beat $80 with no core charge for a brand new part!  i don't really beat the crap out of my truck, but it's a little extra peace of mind.

i wonder how they'd do if you got them treated by bobby long?

Im running 27 spline CroMo longs and poly performance CroMo inners and I have yet to break anything.  Id imagine that the CroMo's that Marlins sells would be quality but IF by some act of satan himself I have issues with this setup its straight to 30 spline longs. ;)

i vote for birf eliminator kits with ctms :drooling:

only problem with this is the ctm will out last every axle you throw at it,,not to mention those axles are going boom at the 5000 ft pund range,,,pretty weak by cromo 30 spline standards at 8700 ft pounds..when this kits surpasses the cromo birfs then the investment might be worth it,,till then,,no way,,bobbys cromo 30 splines all the way..
Forgiveness is between them and god..
Its my job to arrange the meeting!

A birf eliminator WILL break behind the ears on the inner shaft every time.  It is a simple design requirement that the area be machined down thin in order for the u-joint to fit inside the knuckle.  If it lasts very long your on borrowed time. ;)

I vote for 30 spline longs, just because I ordered a set yesterday.  After changing a birfield at Tellico this weekend, I decided it was worth the extra money to not have to do it again.
