that's really not the weak link I don't think. Don't be skeered, you'll be fine
As for the sleeving it actually can make it WORSE depending on how it is done, all the stress is now concentrated to that one edge. If you do sleeve it make sure the edges of the sleeve are not cut straight (do them at a 45degree angle). I still don't think it is worth it..
