Dunno what you've got as far as junkyards in the area, but once you get to the point of the small things, definitely go wander.
I've saved so much money buying the typical stuff (after market shifters, etc.) at PnP that its not even funny.
I definitely vote for the 4.3, thats what'll be going in mine next. Fairly straight forward swap, easily accessible and cheap parts, and you'll be pleased with the power. I've got a buddy with a 4.3 in his toy, it scoots along great on the freeway, and the low end is awesome in the rocks.
Most of the people that I've talked to that have put the 5.7 in a toy have said the effort isn't worth the benefit. As mentioned above, the toy stuff won't last long if you put your foot into it, and it seems like most of them struggle with cooling issues, due to fitment.
we've got plenty off discount used warehouses, yards and such in the Spokane, WA area (1hr approx from me)
I will definately do some wandering!
I am happy to see all the support with going to a 4.3L, as I feel i will not be disappointed and the aftermarket support and cheap parts will be nice! they are much easier to upgrade and cheaper then a Foreign.
as of now, I have nothing towards a 4.3L, im getting all the information gathered now to make it easier here soon.
