ya, a screw driver works but after finally getting the hub socket, I replaced all those chewed up nuts.
Cone washers: I found a good whack directly on the stud with brass drift and BFH usually gets 'em.
leave the nut on, right at the end of the stud, for thread protection especially if your using a small drift that might glance off.
and don't loose or toss those little cone washers, they're awful pricey if you have to replace.
