I do not run one, but have driven several with em and could not tell when at slow speeds but at about 20+
mph they really put some vibes up the wheel...

I know ErikB ran one until he won one from Jess. Here is his web site:

they are pretty cool and easy to build. they do make a lot of noise and vibration on the road.  I might make one shortly.

I've always thought about just fabbing up one where the main portion of the shaft remained circular, but doing the slip yoke with the square tubing, just weld like 8 inches of the receiver tubing onto the end, and then have however much hitch tubing going from the shaft to the pinion yoke. What do you guys think?

I think this qualifies gferris5 for a "thinking outside the box (tubing) award"  ;)

Why thank you dubyatee, Maybe I'll make one, it'd be lighter than a full square shaft and would work as well or as a long travel shaft and it would be cheaper. I might just have to build one at my non-existent shop with my non-existent welder and imaginary chopsaw.

You said only about 8 inchs of travel on the shaft?  That don't seem like enough for me you might have problems with it bottoming out or falling out

right, well it's all theoretical right now, you could do as much overlap as you want, you could run 8 inches of receiver tubing and then 18 inches of hitch tubing if you wanted (I'm exageratting), it would just slid into what's left of the original d-shaft tubing-but you wouldn't save any of the weight that doing just the slip-yoke with square tubing would. :driving:

I was messing with some steel in my shop the other night and found that it would be bretty easy to lathe off some of the corners on the female tubing to make it fit in the origional driveline tube nicely.

sweet, I've been scheming on creative ways to attach it to the original driveshaft in such a manner that would have it center itself, like use the lathe to put a taper in the female material in such a way that it will sort of wedge itself in there nicely. but as to how to attach it to the original is tough, maybe fab up some little arc shaped pieces to fit on each side of the square? Or cut four notches in the d-shaft and weld the notches to the corners of the female piece. Maybe I'll do it one of these weekends once it warms up a little..
