how about the :pokinit: has hit the fan and you have no house, you are with rig or worse, on foot. ONE rifle that you currently own, to defend, hunt and provide food for yourself and whoever is in your group.

Even better!  That's the theme I was initially going for but didn't wanna go that far really, but since it's a hypothetical anyway  :dunno:

I still stick with my original answer;  my remington 788 in .308.  I even know where there's some ammo, but it's scraping the bottom of the barrel.
