Same type of thing happened to my Mom.  Guy she hired and paid in advance to due some remodeling to her house he shows up one time tears some walls up and she never sees him again.  She eventually sues him it all goes through court she wins, He files for bankruptcy the next day.  Long story short Mom never gets a penny and nothing ever happened to the guy.   

Thats what we fell will happen  unless we can get him on criminal charges do to the stole stuff.
