The transfer case does not turn in 2wd so I don't think thats it. Have your back drive shaft checked out seen some that needed to replace (in later model extended cab trucks even after sending the shaft to be repaired) also check to see if you have a leaking axle seal. Also check the slip yoke on the driveshaft that will cause it to feel like the brakes are sticking.
