pulling the oil pump is pretty easy. it's removing the pulley and all the junk in front that's a pain. sure you could use a seal puller and remove the old seal but i think it would be better just to remove the pump. it would be a much cleaner job that way. you can remove the oil pump with out removing the front cover. at least i know on my old engine you don't need to.
