This could be a normal internal noise from the power steering pump when the wheels are pegged and the box has bottomed out.

When this happens, instead of blowing the high pressure hose, the spinning rotor housing which containes the veins, will push against a large coil spring and the excess pressure will vent around the rotor housing.

This is the cause of the internal high pitch sound.
