I don't know if this would fit at all, but the specs are sweet.  This is from a later Tacoma and it's essentially a turbo R22E power-wise without needing the turbo.  You could get better engines, but this is probably going to be the simplest to get parts for and swap in of the newer engines.(plus totaled Tacomas are pretty easy to locate if you want to go that route. :)

This should give you a comparison versus an older V6.  This is what I meant.   Basically you're wasting two cylinders worth of fuel for no gain(okay - a few more lb-ft of torque - not even 10 at 4000rpm(so it's a fair comparison) with the early V6 versus the later I4.
