but again, this is a sign of other serious engine problems, such as worn out pistons and rings.

My engine used to be one of those "serious engine problems". When I bought it, it was blown and we took 2 motors to make one good one.

Question: Will leaving the gunk in there as it currently is (not wet) hurt anything?

EDIT: PS. No plans to disco the tube, just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong currently.
