My guess is that for some reason, one or both of the hubs didnt disengage all the way 
anyone else?
Either that or he is still in 4wd.
Those would be your only 2 options.
Have him lock the hubs again and burnout, that way he can see if he is "stuck in 4wd"
If the front doesn't peel, then it is a hub problem.
