I don't have to do any christmas shopping
I agreed with my family (in NJ) years ago, that we were old enough that we didn't need to do more then exchange cards.
MrW's family still held to the tradition, but this year there have been health problems so I called his father and suggested it would be easier on everyone if we just get together for socializing and eating mass quantities of food. They were all for that.
His family was always VERY generous in their gift giving and I was always very appreciative, and I do love the giving gifts myself, but the real reason for the season has been lost in the whole BUYING frenzy.
It is about getting together with loved ones, remembering those we haven't been in touch with enough throughout the years, and bringing love into our hearts. If only we could feel the same way all year long.
