If you do carry a "fero" fire starter, be it mag or flint, be sure to learn how to use it and the "tricks" for better success in starting a fire. Read up on primitive fire starting methods. Any method can be successful with the right material choices. Any method can be fun unless it's NEEDED, at which point it becomes harder to get the ember started.
I still say a torch is the best fire starting method.
