The extensive research into the influenza virus, especially since the 1900's has shown that the variants (mutations) appear most often in poorer communities or populations where the effects the illness last longer, giving the virus the ability to mutate, thus creating a new variant. The long-term effects of COVID-19 are very significant. The COVID-19 vaccines are not really a vaccine - they don't prevent you from being infected, and they don't prevent you being infectious.
Until a real vaccine is developed for COVID-19 and its variants - which may not happen - therapeutics may be the only hope for treatment and survivability.

Drugs like ivermectin (anti-parasite), fluvoxamine (anti-depressant), etc. have been around for decades are now being evaluated and appear to reduce the production of inflammatory cytokines.
Why? Because sudden (cytokine storm) and sustained inflammation, during and after recovery, is a primary cause in serious damage to lungs, heart, brain, and other organs and tissues.
If you are curious about what medical treatment you may get if you were to become ill with COVID-19-like symptoms, call your family doctor or specialist and ask them to specifically describe what THEY would recommend or do to test and treat you. You may be very surprised.
