The Fluffer
« on: Jul 24, 2012, 04:37:06 PM »
Bought a pile we named the $hit Missile for parts to use on my new build The Fluffer.
The Missile came with a 22r backed by a 151 and duals with a Marlin 4.7 and had very built toy axles. - paid $2200 and it came with a ton of spare parts and an RTI ramp :)
Here is what the $hit Missile looked like -

On with the build -
Here are The Fluffer Specs
1-1/2 DOM chassis 52" wide at widest point, 112" wb 19" belly
Alum 4 link both ends
18" 2.0 fox air shox
Propane conversion
FJ 80 axles with hellfire knuckles and high steer arms
37" BFG reds with Raceline 17" steel beadlocks
shoot for a weight around 3k

I didn't like the way the center bars looked. If you notice I also had to change the front shock hoops and make them taller.

I didn't mention at the start that this is definately a budget build.
I would have much rather ran coilovers. Would have loved to build up
a turbo 22r and gone through cases and trans. I figure I'll upgrade
all that in round 2 of the build. Also know the hp 8 is gona be the weak
link so I'm either gona put a 60/14 under it or a 14/14. Unless the toy purist in
me desides to build a landcruiser 9.5 front with a housing from Dan at Ruff Stuff.

Personally, I'm not a fan of buggies, but I like where this is going and I like the tubing lines. For me, often times the tubing lines are what kill a buggy build. But the fact that you're doing this on a budget is really what I'm all about. Keep up the good work!

Thanks - check out the Porn taco link in my sig, you may like that build. We did that one a couple of years ago, it's based off a 96 taco.

Figured that was the reason when I saw you were using 18" shocks. What kind of travel are you looking to get f/r?

Nice!  I really like the concept of the whole rig..lighweight is the way to go for a budget wheeler.  I have a similar build using a 2RZ and 8" yota axles and 36" iroks.  I am running an aw4 auto and single dana 300 case to keep the drivetrain short and lightweight.  Pretty jealous of the 9.5" rear and 8" HP front.  If you come out weighing around 3k I would think it will hold up well although a lot of that depends on your suspension geometry and of course the situation you get yourself into.  I was going turbo on my 2RZ and decided natural aspiration until round 2.  Money isn't exactly growing on trees these days!
