Do I or Don't I????
« on: Oct 22, 2009, 10:03:03 PM »
I know you guys are probably say that I'm being a big ol baby  :stopit: about what I'm about to ask. But, here goes. I got a good deal on front and rear marlin tube bumpers. I've mounted the rear one very hesitantly since you have to cut the rear sheet metal but I did it. Now comes time to mount the front bumper. You gotta understand, my ol bessie is a very clean 1st gen. So here goes....... Should I mount the front bumper and cut the "prestine" fenders or sell the bumper and leave the thing alone?  :flamer:

Depends on what your end goal is for the truck is, i.e., a clean looking DD, for intermediate trails, or a high clearance trail rig.

If it were me, I would pick up a set of used fenders, cut/paint them and run the bumper.  This way if the look doesn't grow on you after a while, you can return it to the stock look w/o cutting up clean fenders.

that is true but then you have that part of the fender still there making it look kinda silly no offense or anything but sometimes you just gotta go for it. good new is you can always get new fends that are in good condition and put some paint on em and your back to normal.

I don't know x4 x5? but i definitly agree

Makes me think of the porsche world (356, 912 era). When they want to make a beauty a hauler, they put a vw motor (cheap power) in it and make a nice stand for the original as to be an original car. Same idea when your talking anything old thats still perty

I took a little bit of input from everyone. I got a pair of straight fenders just like mine and went ahead and dove in. I don't regret it now that it's done.

I'll be "rolling" the sheet metal like these:
