yeah idk what is wrong with the windows... NONE of them work... all the fuses are good (both boxes), someone (not gonna mention names) cut threw a few wires wen they cut the rear hole for the t-case shifter. but they were working after that... i still havn't figured out where those things go...

ummmm... come to think of it, i think i direct wired the motors to get the windows up... so i'm pretty sure i wont be needing those, but the swiches might be usefull, corse yours are diffrent

ok so after chating with my buddy Caboose, y'all might know him as trout_of_death... i decided i might go ahead and try to figure out why it's not running agin....

symptoms as of 12:27am sunday morning jan 4th 2008.....

         *  check engine code "51" my Chilton maual tells me,
              "swich signal- A/C swich on, Neutral start swich off, Idle swich off during diagnostic check"
              whatever that means (i think an alien wrote that)
              but my maual dose not cover 1989 3.0's... just 1988 3.0's... my guess would be that they are

              close'nuf...
         *  engine cranks, fires once if your lucky
         *  was running super rich and had practicly no power...

             look at my cat after i got home from the store. (fig B)

             in fact from about 30% throtle to 100%, it did not acelerate any faster, the engine

             just made a diffrent noise...

what i have done so far.....

        * NEW ALTERNATOR/BATTERY & CONECTORS
            the alternaitor stopped charging on the way home from the round up. (fig A) come

            to find out, the shop that fixed my alt told me it had an internal short. so, who knows

            what that did to my engine controll computer... but installing the new alt did nothing

            figuring that my computer was fried i removed it from the truck and left it on a shelf

            for about 3-6 months. up untill this point the truck had not run sence it had died on

            the way home from the round up. now i decided to put the computer back in and check

            the code, so i unpluged the alt, put the computer in, installed a new batery with new

            cable conectors, and the dang thing starts.. go figure :screwy: but it had no power

            i figured it was bad gas...
        * NEW GAS
            it had some fairly old gas in it so i drove it around a bit, i probly went threw a whole

            tank in about 80 miles or less. :ack: put brand new gas in, along with a bottle of injector

            cleaner, drove it home to notice the cat (fig B)
        * NEW SPARK PLUG WIRES
            it wasn't running rite sence it died coming home from the roundup. i didn't know what

            else to do besides chainge the o2 sensor, and i had just put new plugs and a brand spank'n

            new distributor in right before the roundup.
        * NEW o2 SENSOR
            i figured it was running rich, due to the almost overwhelming smell of gasoline from

            the exhaust and fron inside the cab while driveing, so i decided to chainge the o2

            sensor... after two days of fighting rusted, broken bolts, the o2 sensor was in and

            now the truck will not start period. i thought it could be the new o2 sensor was a

            lil' diffrent, so i tryed adjusting the air flow sensor.
        * ADJUST AIR FLOW SENSOR
            first off like an idiot, i didn't mark the origial location of the sensor gear. (fig C)

            so i dont have a clue where it was. so then i unwound it all the way, cranked it after evry

            four teeth. it got to a spot where it would fire a couple times then crank forever, i kept

            turning it till it was to tight it wouldn't fire. Then i unwound it agin and tryed to start it after

            every tooth to the same result.  so i'm pretty much out of ideas, besides a new

            engine controll computer, i THOUGHT those were easy to find.... guess i waas wrong agin....

have you yanked the cat at all ? if it got that hot to be glowing that bright it probably melted down and is totally plugging your exhaust. It happend to me once with the truck running really lean and hot and when it finnaly melted down  the truck just did not want to run at all.

i checked the front side of the cat when i had to pull off the o2 sensor, but it looked fine... could not see the back side, never the less, it ran beautifully untill the batery voltage droped so low the engine wouldn't run.... hasn't ran right sence then

i guess i could check the rear of the cat... figure'n i'm just sit'n here, i'll justhave to break two rusty bolts in half (i have new ones to replace them) check the back of the cat and just leave it disconected, then try to start it, it would eliminate that posibility

seems to me like as long as it's not broken, or unpluged the TPS wouldn't make the truck not run....and like i said, it ran fine untill the batery died. but i could check it any ways... never hurt nothin...

i guess i could take the front bolts back off agin, shine a light from one end to the other, but there really is no point... there should have been some kind of obvious catistrofic damage to cause the exhaust to be pluged...
