1980 Pickup build....Now on 37's
« on: Aug 30, 2008, 01:02:28 PM »
I picked up this unfinished project last week and finished the dissassemby so I can put it back together the way I want it. The specs are.

22r w/ 5-speed
dual stock cases
5:29's with aussie lockers front and rear
35" Goodyear Wrangler MTR's
Marlin crawler suspension system
Hi-steer and IFS Box

Additional plans are Longfield's and 37's

the body of the truck is very solid, should only take a few minor repairs to get it ready for paint.

The plan is to build an occasional driver that is nice enough to drive on the street but not so nice that I am not afraid to beat on it off-road and Rock Crawling

Here are some updates, the bed has been sold ( going the tube / flat bed route ) and the chassis has been finished and painted, the cab has been stripped and painted silver but I cant find my camera to take new pics.

I am hoping to sit the cab back on next weekend so I will get more pics then. ( hopefully I find my camera )

those wheels came with the tires....I have a set of outlaw II's I am gonna run,

Gotta have BLING

Here are a few cab shots, sort of a satin silver, its PPG ALK series industrial paint ( it has great rust prevention properties ). There is no body filler anywhere in the cab, Other than the spot in the floor that needs repaired it is rust free

Cab needs a few runs sanded out and a final coat of paint.

I am hoping to have it done by spring, I am trying to sell my 92 YJ to buy more parts.

Here is a link to a Build thread started by the Previuos owner of the Yota, I have been adding to it as well, it shows alot of the suspension and steering work that was required.

The old Paint job was definately right out of the 80's......I actually almost kept it but being on the east coast I figured I better strip it and give it a good coat of some rust preventative paint.

If you pay shipping on the wheels you can have them........they are 15 x 10 with no center caps and they are steel with aluminum centers, and one is bent
