Here is a door and the radio + antenna pics. :snapshot: I need to do some minor things and check everything over before the trip, but I should be ready to load it on the trailer tomorrow night.

Looks great Jim. Can you get to the hinge bolt through the fender? Next time you are down pull the hinges off the parts truck so you can have a set for the tube doors and the full doors.

I can get to the bottom hinge easily, but not the top. :hammerhead: Great idea on the parts truck.

BTW: the Ham Radio is nice! I was really surprised on how clear it is. I was picking up signals last night from some old people in Orange County. If you get a chance, install your radio and we can test it on the BFG channel. :yesnod:

Looks awesome. Those full doors almost look out of place with the paint job on the rest of the truck, but I guess they go with the roof.
BTW any reason you didn't paint the roof like the rest of it?

When I had it wrapped, I figured I didn't need to do the top or the doors. :dunno: I didn't plan on putting the doors back on and I never really see the top. :gap: I will probably have the doors done sometime after the trip. :)

Its never "done". :nonono: I don't know for sure, but I do need to address the rear axle, tubbing the front fenders and getting the hydro assist installed. I also have some other little parts that I need to get in (hub gears, detent spring, ARPs) etc.  ;)

I saw this at the KOH race. It looks really good!   I will be doing this for mine when $$ allows. Jim, I am sorry I didn't get to talk to you very much. The kid I was talking to when you came up to me, is a hamm radio nut. If you have any problems with it, let me know, he can probably handle it. Were you during the race?

Hey Shawn,
I started in the desert section following Sun Bonnet and then went to the top of Outer Limits. The race was incredible! :yesnod: The top and doors were nice keeping the mud from the lake bed out. :sly:
Saturday we ran lower and upper Big Johnson and Claw Hammer in record time (for us). It was a great trip!

Sorry it took me so long to reply to this. I have a couple of friends who live in Elk Grove that I would like to visit this Summer. If I can somehow also get the wifey to agree to drag along the Runner I'm there. :yesnod:

We decided to take a little Easter Day trip to our local rock pile behind the Seven Oaks Dam (20 minutes from the house). It turns out the SoCal rains were a little more than I expected as the rocks are all under water. :gap:

So we were left with fire road wheeling. :driving:

Wow, that is an incredible view. Despite the lack of rocks it was still a beautiful day to do some cruising.

It was a little hazy, but still a nice day. 8)

Dusting off this old thread. :smack:

In fact dusting off the rig after a few months. After the last trip to the Hammers in late October to prepare for KOH, the Runner took a beating on Outer Limits. Flopped it on the passenger side (again) tacoed the drive shaft and bent the front bumper into the hood. :driving:

I didn't have time to work on it and the KOH buggy, so Jedrattle got to fixing it. Even more carnage was discovered. Chipped two teeth in the ring and the front axle housing was pretty beat. All of the bump stops were bent and the wheel wells were taking their toll on the Iroks. So Sean  :flamer: took the time to fix all of the issues (and then some) to get it rolling again.  :yesnod: I am going to pull the good Warn 9.0 RC winch out of the Runner to donate to the Buggy for the race, but it should be ready to pre-run and map some stuff on the gps soon. 8)

Pics of Jedrattle's work in the next day or two. :)

Another update. 8) The Runner held up nicely with a week's worth of wheeling at the Hammers for KOH. We used it to pre-run the KOH course (about 70 of the 82 miles). Here we are waiting at the BFG pit looking for a place to park.

We had great weather this weekend so we took a little trip to Big Bear. We were followed for a little bit by Mr. CHP, but he didn't pull us over.

It looks like I need to replace my rear drive shaft. :( I am going to call Jess at High Angle Driveline this time after seeing the quality of his work on our KOH buggy.

Thanks. 8)

Goose you should have stopped by. The buggy broke the pitman arm at RM40 and by the time we got a spare on it, the next checkpoint was closed. :(

The Toyota engineers simply dropped the ball when forgot this. They should have known that the American public loves their food.  :chew:

The "manifold burrito" is a huge hit with my kids on the trail. Take a frozen burrito, wrap it in tin foil and put it on the manifold. 30 minutes later its ready to go. :gap: The problem with the stock setup is it only holds two burritos and the mainfood shield would rip the tin foil (probably not the most sanitary food in the world). A trip to the local restaurant supply house for a stainless steel serving container and a pair of tin snips solved the problem. The boys and I enjoyed a great hot lunch. :yumyum:

Here is a step by step process I did for FFC a few years ago on the bumper if it helps: http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=19881.msg423574#msg423574

Pretty much all of the pictures of it are in this thread. :)
